myPoint

1. Simple mode

The main purpose is to simplify the work with myPoint:
  • Simplified myPoint menu.
  • Hotkeys will target only the All-screens shade.
  • myPoint panel will still offer the full shade customization.
Switch on the Simple mode:
  • Open the shade center.
  • Select the "Simple mode" checkbox.
The same checkbox is available in the General view too.
User experience:
  • Shade targets are not available.
  • Shade level hotkeys operate only on the All-screens shade.
  • myPoint menu is simplified:
    • Per-screen shade level sliders in myPoint menu are not available.
Per-screen shade can be changed only in myPoint panel.
    • Shade assistant, eye care, about and help are not accessible from the menu.
    • myPoint panel still offer all these features.

2. Eye Care

The automatic instant shade off (aka toggle off) will irritate the human's vision. Because of this, the Eye Care feature was implemented - it replaces the instant toggle with a gentle fade.
Please increase the fade duration if the shade off still irritates your vision.

3. Driving the shade via mouse

Driving the shade via mouse is an easy and natural way. Open myPoint menu and move the shade sliders in All-screens and Per-screen shade sections until you get the best view.
Change the selection of the "Shade" checkbox to toggle the shade on and off.

4. Open the shade center

Any parameter of the shade can be changed from the shade center.

5. Driving the shade via keyboard

Sometimes it's appropriate to drive the shade via hotkeys, especially when you have a hard input by the keyboard. So open the shade center and remember the settings in the Hotkeys section.
A: Driving the All-screens shade level:
  • First, remember the "Toggle Shade" hotkey.
    Its default value is ⌃⌥⌘ S;
  • Second, remember the "Increase by 10%" and "Decrease by 10%" hotkeys.
    Default values ⌃⌥⌘ ↑ and ⌃⌥⌘ ↓.
  • Finally, try to remember the "Increase by 1%" and "Decrease by 1%" hotkeys - you will need them in a dark room. You may skip these keys if you are working in a bright room only.
    Default values ⌃⌥⌘ → and ⌃⌥⌘ ←.
B: Driving the shade target.
  • Remember the "Toggle target" hotkey. Default value ⌃⌥⌘ T;
In order to limit the amount of hotkeys, a so named Shade Target abstraction was introduced. In general:
  • There are two shade targets:
    • All-screens shade - all screens at once:
    • Per-creen shade - the screen under the mouse pointer (mouse screen).
  • The selected target is preserved - it's not reset at the shade launch.
  • The shade-level hotkeys (10% and 1%) are working on the current target.
  • To target a new mouse screen, move the mouse pointer on it.
